How it works

Creation of contents

That's really simple:

  • Write a short article or a short article review (You have talent but need orientation ? Contact the editorial staff)
  • Create an account from here, the account can be created either with your real name and/or with an anonymous username (your contents will be moderated in any case), and you can therefore have both an official and an anonymous account, which nonetheless will be equally moderated
  • (If you have got an idea, or you experienced something significant in the past days, the order of the point 1 and 2 can be inverted, that is you can create an account and then writing something with it)
  • Describe a significant fact, and that will be an article, or describe a significant verbal fact, and that will be an article review or "news digest", where the word "significant" does not refer to the kind of fact, but rather to the extent to which they are gently completed by the observer.
The verbal or media fact to be reviewed or commented can be whatever, provided that they don't violate the laws of the country of residence of the author, while an article in our idea requires the presence of the author on the stage, implying an unavoidable participation. (in case of a news review or digest we assume the participation is intellectual and emotional)
  • Just open the form appropriate to your content (after having created an account, and then after logging-in) Add news article or Add news digest. If it is an article, as above, ensure you have participated to the "event" (strictly speaking, we know the word is being used for any nonsense), therefore you were present, and if it is a "news digest", please ensure that the news source appears in this list: if missing, please add it through the form Add news media before writing the review.
  • Currently, as you create the form, it is required to only insert the semantic data, that is title, place, date, etc. in case of an article, and original title, url, news source, original media url, etc., in case of a review. After inserting this data, you can create the actual content, without any constraint (except those posed by a standard wiki) in the wiki page itself.
All the semantic data can be edited after creation, so don't worry too much about them, except possibly about date and title, because the page will take the name from these values, and it should be renamed (moved) as they change.
Of course it's important that the "categories" field is filled-in accurately, so, if appropriate categories still don't exist, just create them, taking into account that they should be useful to characterize a large number of articles.
  • The article or review will be saved under your personal page in this wiki (where a "personal page" is just a standard page with your real name or username in the standard namespace) and the wiki is configured in such a way that at a first stage the pages created therein, will only visible to you and to moderators.
As soon as your article or review will be approved, they will be publicly visible (and as soon you will be "approved" as author, you don't need to be anymore "moderated" at all)

Language of contents[edit | edit source]

Younews.ge aims to be "the media collaboration platform of Georgia", but as a developing country well inserted in the international fabric, internationalism, at high ranks, is an inseparable aspect of Georgian internal policy: therefore, English should be the reference language for all or most of the contents of this platform, and Georgian should be either the target language when contents are addressed to a Georgian audience, or the source language where a Georgian author does not have an acceptable command of English, and in this case the contents will be translated in English by volunteers or the editorial staff. (and the original text will be published as well)

In short, articles can be created both in English and Georgian, the articles written in Georgian should have a translation in English, while the articles in English may not have a translation in Georgian. As use-case, article reviews of foreign newspapers and news media, are expected to be written in English or even in the language of the country from which the news article originated, and then translated in Georgian being addressed to and at ultimate benefit of Georgian citizens.
